The Role of Evidence in Change

In aged care, we use evidence as individuals to make informed decisions and as services to develop processes and practices that are effective and lead to good outcomes. Research studies provide evidence on what works and services can use data and activities to show how they are performing. There is a growing body of research evidence around palliative care and end-of-life care that can guide practice in aged care.

Many health professionals are familiar with the concept of evidence-based care. This approach brings together evidence from research alongside the health professional’s clinical judgement, and the circumstances and preferences of the person needing care.
